Summary

The Texas Supreme Court held that appellate courts must conduct a harmless‑error (harm) analysis when a juvenile trial court fails to give the statutory explanation required by Family Code §54.03(b)(2), and found the error harmless in this case; affirmed that juvenile courts may grant probation after a non‑jury adjudication for murder; and affirmed the Court of Appeals’ reversal and remand because the trial court’s misstatement of its authority to grant probation was harmful error. Justice BAKER, in a concurring opinion, disagreed with the majority’s analysis but joined the judgment.
