Mississippi Supreme Court

The Mississippi Bar v. Jody E. Owens, II

August 6, 2026

Summary

The Mississippi Supreme Court, en banc, granted the Mississippi Bar's motion and accepted Jody E. Owens II's irrevocable resignation with prejudice pursuant to Rule 11(a) and Procedure 11.1 of the Rules of Discipline for the Mississippi State Bar, deeming the resignation tantamount to proof of guilt on the matter charged. Owens tendered his resignation while facing a disciplinary proceeding in which the Bar sought his suspension following his guilty plea to a felony in federal court. Finding the notice complied with Procedure 11.1, the Court immediately and permanently disbarred Owens, terminated all outstanding disciplinary proceedings including Docket No. 2026-BD-00754, and assessed costs against him. No separate opinions were filed.
