Summary
The court held that appellate review of a juvenile court’s decision awarding permanent custody and terminating parental rights under R.C. 2151.414 must use sufficiency-of-the-evidence and/or manifest-weight-of-the-evidence standards, depending on the arguments presented. Because the court of appeals used an abuse-of-discretion standard, the judgment was reversed and the matter remanded for application of the proper standards.
