The court adopted the amended Rule 702's modified Daubert framework, including trial-court gatekeeping for all scientific, technical, and specialized expert testimony, replacing Mississippi's former Frye standard. Applying that framework, it held that Rip Walker's 750-foot line appraisal method was speculative, untested, unpublished, uncontrolled by standards, and not generally accepted, so his testimony was inadmissible. The court reversed the eminent-domain judgment and remanded for a new trial.
