It held that the officers had arguable probable cause to detain Savory, that Savory lacked evidence showing bad-faith destruction of apparently exculpatory evidence or clearly established unlawfulness, and that the interrogation methods were not clearly unconstitutional under the law existing in 1977. The court also held that officers were absolutely immune from liability for trial testimony consistent with allegedly fabricated reports that were not used at trial.
